Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading before the race, it was noted that SHINING CROWN had a mild laceration to the off hind cannon. The horse was trotted up at the Start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, DELIGHTFUL SPECIAL was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said the horse was trotted up sound, he discussed the situation with Apprentice S K Sit and it was then decided DELIGHTFUL SPECIAL was suitable to race. BULL'S EYE missed the start, was further inconvenienced when tightened between WIND PURSUER and ASIA RISING. About the 1000 Metres, SHINING CROWN and STERLING STAR were tightened for room between STYLISH and WIND PURSUER which got its head on the side and shifted in away from DELIGHTFUL SPECIAL. Shortly afterwards, DELIGHTFUL SPECIAL shifted out away from WIND PURSUER, causing inconvenience to SUPREME GOLIATH which shifted out, hampering LOYAL DEVOTION and KEV BUSHIDO. Approaching the 800 Metres, BULL'S EYE was steadied and shifted out abruptly across the heels of ROMANTIC SYMPHONY. Apprentice S K Sit (DELIGHTFUL SPECIAL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that at about the 800 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear. As a consequence of this, WIND PURSUER was severely checked and SHINING CROWN was unnecessarily crowded for room. After taking into account all relevant factors in this case, particularly the frankness in which the evidence of Apprentice S K Sit was submitted, it was decided his licence to ride in races be suspended until Thursday, 12 April 2001 on which day he may resume race riding. The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Wednesday, 28 March 2001. After the 100 Metres, SUPREME GOLIATH was inconvenienced by ASIA RISING which shifted out.
