Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading, KINGSTON TREASURE, which was today having its first race start for 2 years, became fractious and threw itself down. Acting on veterinary advice KINGSTON TREASURE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, the Stewards would need to be satisfied that KINGSTON TREASURE will participate satisfactorily in the pre-race parades. On jumping, CLIFFHANGER knuckled. On leaving the gates, PRIME WITNESS shifted in, this caused some inconvenience to SOLID CONTACT and to a lesser extent TRIPLE EXPRESSO. Approaching the 800 Metres, TRIPLE EXPRESSO was steadied when crowded by SOLID CONTACT which was racing tight on the inside of RED PEPPER which itself was racing tight inside PLENTY-PLENTY. Whilst the crowding to TRIPLE EXPRESSO should have been avoided, the Stewards were not able to attribute full responsibility to any one rider and therefore no action was taken. About the 200 Metres, CARACOLER became unbalanced when crowded between CRYSTAL CHARM and BILLION WIN which shifted ground when under pressure over the concluding stages. RED PEPPER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, it was reported that BEST OF THE BEST had lost its near side front plate. Subsequent to the race, D Whyte was told his conduct following the announcement of the withdrawal of KINGSTON TREASURE had reflected little credit upon him.
