Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, VICTORY WARRIOR bounded in the air and on landing threw its head about, as a consequence of this got back in the early stages. In the middle stages, SUPER EXPRESSO hung out badly. RIVER OF CHINA made the latter part of the Home Turn awkwardly, shifted out and in the Straight hung out badly. In the Straight, CLASSIC JESTER hung in. In the run to the winning post, VICTORY WARRIOR shifted out and caused some inconvenience to POT BLACK. W Woods (CHAMPION BOY) explained the horse, which was having its first race start today, was probably looking for more ground and was slowly away. He said at no stage of the race did it handle today's track conditions. He said in the early part of the Straight he pulled the whip and hit CHAMPION BOY on two occasions, but the horse in his opinion appeared to resent it, was inclined to shift ground, he then elected to put the whip down and ride CHAMPION BOY to the line hands and heels as he considered in all the circumstances this was in the best interests of his mount. F Coetzee (SUPER FAST) said at no stage was the horse comfortable in today's going. SUPER FAST was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
