Racing Incident Report

The start of the race was delayed as SUPER CENTURY was difficult to load into the barrier. Before racing again, SUPER CENTURY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. On jumping, SUPER CENTURY and RED DIAMOND bumped. EXULTATION left the gates with its head up. In the middle stages, MY HEART, which was racing wide, was inclined to hang out. About the 600 Metres, ZIETENGO BOY was steadied when disappointed for running between ESPRESSO and SUPER CENTURY which shifted out slightly. When asked about the performance of GRANDIOSO, D Whyte said he had been riding the horse at work which he said was good and the stable connections expected GRANDIOSO would run well in today's race. He said he enjoyed a good trip in the run, just on straightening had to steady and shift in, but this was of little consequence. He also did point out the last win of GRANDIOSO was on the rain affected track and today's going might have had an effect on the horse's run, however, he said generally the performance of GRANDIOSO today was in his opinion disappointing. GRANDIOSO was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said ESPRESSO was significantly lame in its off side front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ESPRESSO will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination.
