Racing Incident Report

ELITE WIN was slowly away. When the gates opened, CASH FLOW bounded in the air and bumped the outside of its stall. Near the 1000 Metres, ELITE WIN became unbalanced when close to the heels of ACCURACY. About the 1000 Metres, CHIVAS LAD, which was proving very difficult to settle, became unbalanced when racing close to the heels of MR HAPPY. Near the 900 Metres, CHIVAS LAD, which was continuing to pull, struck the heels of ZINEDINE and nearly fell. It was established that ZINEDINE also was racing a little erratically, throwing its head around when tight inside ALWAYS ON (A Suborics) which was shifting in slightly with HALO KING PRAWN. The Stewards were not able to attribute responsibility to any rider or riders and therefore no direct action was taken, however, A Suborics was told he should do as much as he can to look after his fellow riders. In the Straight, WINNING YEARS hung in. About on the winning post, ZINEDINE was awkwardly placed between WINNING YEARS which was improving on its outside and ALWAYS ON which was shifting out. D Whyte (UNIVERSAL PEGASUS) explained the horse is inclined to over-race and today this was again the case. He said he took UNIVERSAL PEGASUS into a forward position and although the horse was pulling it travelled satisfactorily. He said on straightening UNIVERSAL PEGASUS made quite an abnormal noise with its breathing and continued to do so in the Straight. He said he was checked at about the 300 Metres when tightened between ACCURACY and GOOD MESSAGE, but in the context of this race that was of little significance. Before UNIVERSAL PEGASUS can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination, such examination to include the results of an endoscopic test. UNIVERSAL PEGASUS was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
