Racing Incident Report
Prior to the running of Race 1 tonight, the Stewards interviewed Mr K C Lo, trainer of TEKON PERFECT. On the evidence supplied by Mr Lo, the Stewards became concerned as to the bona fides of the ownership of TEKON PERFECT, as well as PRETTY BABY and GOLDEN KING which are also trained by Mr Lo. Acting in accordance with powers given under Rule 12(16) to prohibit any horse from starting in a race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of TEKON PERFECT. Further Mr Lo was advised that the entries of TEKON PERFECT, PRETTY BABY and GOLDEN KING would not be accepted until this matter is resolved. The Stewards will continue their inquiry into this matter at a date to be fixed. At the start, WORLD STAR was bumped by WATCH ME WIN which shifted in. From the outside barrier, MASTER MARAUDER was steadied and shifted across behind the field to a position closer to the rail. At the 1100 Metres, WORLD STAR was steadied when momentarily crowded for room by BOLD VISION which shifted in. MASTER MARAUDER, which was to the outside of BOLD VISION, was hampered when that horse shifted back out. At the 500 Metres, WATCH ME WIN was bumped by ALL WIN which shifted out in an endeavour to find running and go forward. For a short distance after the 400 Metres, BOLD VISION was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SCHOLARSHIP which was giving ground. On straightening, ALL WIN was steadied to avoid the heels of BOLD VISION which shifted out. When questioned, R Fradd (BRAVISSIMO) explained he had been informed by the assistant trainer prior to the race that BRAVISSIMO had a tendency to pull in its races and proved difficult to settle. He said because of this after passing the winning post the first time he became concerned that NOBLE BOY, which was close to the heels of BUENO BUENO, would shift to the fence when not clear of him. He therefore elected to steady his mount and take up a position behind NOBLE BOY when that horse shifted to the fence. D Dunn (WORLD STAR) explained after being crowded at the 1100 Metres his mount commenced to hang out and proved difficult for him to ride. He said approaching the 800 Metres he did consider allowing his mount to shift out and commence to improve around the field, however, at that time several runners started to improve their position from behind midfield and for him to have improved would have required him to go extremely wide. He said because of this he continued to race on the rail, however, in the Straight his mount continued to hang out badly and proved very difficult for him to ride. C'EST LA VIE and WORLD STAR were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
