Racing Incident Report

Just as the gates opened, DASHING WINNER reared and bumped its head on the top of the starting stalls. As a consequence of this, DASHING WINNER lost a lot of ground and got well back. After the race, DASHING WINNER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said he was unable to find any significant abnormalities. Just after the start, ASIA RISING got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the hindquarters of SHAXI FORTUNE. About the 700 Metres, LUCKY SIX and KENWOOD MELODY bumped, this caused LUCKY SIX to be momentarily unbalanced. About the 600 Metres, SHAXI FORTUNE shifted out slightly and made contact with MY HONOUR. About the 300 Metres, SHAXI FORTUNE was momentarily unbalanced when tightened between MY HONOUR and SUPER MOLLY which shifted to the outside of KENWOOD MELODY. In the circumstances, no action was taken. S Dye (GRAND DELIGHT) said he had been instructed if possible to ride the horse somewhere about midfield. He explained however GRAND DELIGHT left the gates well, immediately got on the bit and rather than fight the horse he elected to let it run along in front with the light weight. He said before the race there was some concern as regards GRAND DELIGHT handling the going of this evening and he did conclude by saying in the Straight GRAND DELIGHT became unbalanced several times. KENWOOD MELODY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon examined KENWOOD MELODY. He reported no significant findings. CITIZEN KANE, GONLARGO and GRAND DELIGHT were sent for sampling.
