Racing Incident Report

CHEVAL D'OR was withdrawn on 20.12.02 on veterinary grounds (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MR HAPPY. Before CHEVAL D'OR can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. AFFAIRE D'AMOUR left the gates very awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of GLASGOW KISS. MAGIC WIN bounded in the air at the start. NEW DYNASTY left the gates very awkwardly, threw its head about and just after the start continued to race awkwardly. Just after the start, FOREVER GOLD was checked and MR HAPPY hampered when tightened for room between CHAMPION RANGER which was taken out by AFFAIRE D'AMOUR which shifted ground after being brushed by GLASGOW KISS and RED LANCER which initially shifted in, but then shortly afterwards commenced to hang in and hung in for the rest of the race. In all the circumstances, no action was taken. Near the 700 Metres, PERFECT SCORE (A Suborics) fell. It was established that after the 800 Metres PERFECT SCORE got its head on the side, commenced to shift out and running towards the 700 Metres shifted out abruptly, in doing so initially bumped the hindquarters of MAGIC WIN, just afterwards bumped FORTUNE TYCOON, then fell. A Suborics said he had been riding the horse in recent work. He said the horse had worked well and had not caused any problems. Mr P C Kan, trainer of PERFECT SCORE, said he had noted in the past the horse seemed to be somewhat field shy and it was decided to race it in a shadow roll today. The Stewards decided before PERFECT SCORE can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in at least two official barrier trials on the grass and around a bend, after which time it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. When PERFECT SCORE did shift out, MAGIC WIN was severely hampered as was FORTUNE TYCOON. PERFECT SCORE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, the Veterinary Officer said there was some blood in the trachea of PERFECT SCORE. However, he did say in his opinion this was of little significance. TWIN WIZARDS, GLASGOW KISS and CHAMPION RANGER were sent for sampling. After the race, D Whyte (RED LANCER) said the horse had pulled up making an abnormal breathing noise. An endoscopic examination was carried out. No significant findings were made.
