Racing Incident Report

WINNING PLEASURE was withdrawn on 19.1.02 on veterinary grounds (lame off fore foot) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter PERFECT VICTORY (Y T Cheng). Before racing again, WINNING PLEASURE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. Acting on veterinary advice that SHINING GEM had shifted a plate and pierced its foot with a nail and was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered it to be withdrawn prior to the race. EXCEL KID missed the start slightly and was further inconvenienced when PERFECT VICTORY shifted out abruptly. LION ROCK was slowly away and just after the start was steadied when tight for room between MULTIZEN and VIPER CORP. From a difficult gate, CONVERGENCE was caught wide throughout and at no stage was able to find any cover. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, FAT CHOY TREASURE hung out. For some distance rounding the Home Turn, TAMAR was unbalanced when close to the heels of FAT CHOY TREASURE and tight inside CONVERGENCE. About the 200 Metres, VIPER CORP was steadied when disappointed for running between MULTIZEN which shifted out slightly and CONVERGENCE. In the Straight, LION ROCK was inclined to hang in. JOINT PEACE and LION ROCK were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
