Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, GREEN CENTURY, which was noted to be walking with an abnormal action in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. The horse was trotted up and after the necessary consultations was passed suitable to race. ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was slow to begin. On jumping, PLANET RULER blundered. At the start, MARANELLO shifted in and bumped OPERA MAGIC which had knuckled when the gates opened. SEASONS KNACK began awkwardly, got its head up, shifted in abruptly across behind runners, then in the early stages hung in and near the 800 Metres caused some crowding to KINDRED SPIRITS. SEASONS KNACK then raced greenly, near the 200 Metres was shifted out abruptly in an endeavour to find clear running and caused some inconvenience to MARANELLO. Then after this, SEASONS KNACK hung in when being ridden out. At the 800 Metres, OPERA MAGIC was steadied away from the heels of ROMANTIC SYMPHONY. At the 600 Metres, MY FORTUNE dipped. E Saint-Martin (EVER SUCCESS) said from the outside barrier today he was instructed to ride the horse with cover if possible. He said the horse began fairly, however, as he was not able to find any cover, he was obliged to race four wide and without cover. He said near the 800 Metres he hoped to shift to a position behind MASCOT TREASURE which would have provided him with cover, however, ROMANTIC SYMPHONY improved on his inside to occupy that position. He said EVER SUCCESS continued to race wide without cover and near the 600 Metres he heard calling to his inside, so he shifted his mount out slightly to ensure he was not causing crowding. He said as a result of being wide, EVER SUCCESS lost further ground rounding the Home Turn, but then when placed under pressure in the Straight, considering the hard run it had had, EVER SUCCESS finished the race off strongly. The explanations submitted by E Saint-Martin were accepted. CHARIOT OF STORM was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, CHARIOT OF STORM was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. PLANET RULER and GREEN CENTURY were sent for sampling. After the race, MY FORTUNE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was not striding out well on the right fore leg and will be re-examined tomorrow.
