Racing Incident Report
GOLDEN PROMISE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of VILLAGER. In the early stages, VILLAGER hung in and at about the 900 Metres shifted ground and caused crowding on its inside to DO IT WELL and OSCAR STAR. At the 600 Metres, OSCAR STAR shifted out slightly and bumped DO IT WELL which as a result shifted ground, made contact with MEDIPAL which became unbalanced and caused inconvenience to NAOMERIC TE SPECSO. After the 600 Metres, DO IT WELL and OSCAR STAR became badly unbalanced and lost ground when crowded for room between AMITY which got its head on the side and shifted out and HONOURABLE which got its head on the side and shifted in. The occurrence in the opinion of the Stewards was accidental. NAOMERIC TE SPECSO, which was following, was hampered and shifted out, after this hung out making the turn, then in the Straight hung in. Near the 500 Metres, OSCAR STAR hung out. Near the 200 Metres, GOLDEN PROMISE and GRANDWAY SHUTTLE brushed. In the Straight, MEDIPAL hung in. DO IT WELL was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, DO IT WELL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. GRANDWAY SHUTTLE and GOLDEN PROMISE were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 20 Mar. 2003) :
A veterinary examination of DO IT WELL immediately following the race did not show any abnormalities. DO IT WELL was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer G Lane this morning and was noted to have significant bruising and minor abrasions to the right fore cannon.
