Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, the saddle on MEDIT KING needed to be adjusted. The horse was re-saddled prior to entering its stall. This caused a delay to the start. FORM FIT was difficult to load. Before being permitted to race again, FORM FIT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. HAPPY WINNING was initially difficult to load and then after being boxed became restless and reared. The horse was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY WINNING will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. BLESSINGS' PARTNER was slow to begin. FORM FIT began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the outside of its gate. On jumping, MEDIT KING and AURELIAN bumped. HAPPY WINNING and DJEREED began awkwardly. W M Lai (TEA FOR CHAMP) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 700 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of ON SHAN EXPRESS which as a result lost its running, shifted in and caused crowding on its inside to HAPPY WINNING which as a result became unbalanced and was checked, causing crowding on its inside to AURELIAN which as a result lost its rightful running and was also checked. As a consequence of this incident, inconvenience was also caused to MEDIT KING, WINNING SUNSHINE, DJEREED and FORM FIT which were following. W M Lai's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to expire on Thursday 15 May 2003 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin race meeting next Thursday 1 May 2003. HOT PRACTITIONER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, HOT PRACTITIONER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, HOT PRACTITIONER will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. LUCKY KING and AURELIAN were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted HAPPY WINNING had sustained a small laceration to its left fore cannon.
