Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the saddling stalls, WINMARK brushed its left hip and sustained a minor abrasion. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, WINMARK was again examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was passed suitable to race. WINMARK stood flat-footed when the gates opened and on jumping bumped the inside gate of its stall. METRO FLYER began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and bumped BULLSHOT. On jumping, ELVIS shifted out and bumped PEARL AND GOLD. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, RENA'S WUNDERBAR, ELVIS and BAYVIEW LAD came together. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, FIRST KNIGHT was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUPER BEST which was carried in slightly by PEARL AND GOLD (A Marcus) which shifted in when not quite clear. A Marcus was advised to exercise more care. At the 1000 Metres, METRO FLYER was steadied and shifted out when close to the heels of ELVIS. After the 400 Metres, RECOGNITION was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ELVIS. After the 200 Metres, BAYVIEW LAD was steadied after being bumped by METRO FLYER which shifted in. WINMARK, which was following, was checked severely to avoid the heels of BAYVIEW LAD. Throughout the race, BULLSHOT raced wide and without cover. A Marcus said it had been intended to ride the horse in midfield or a little further forward, however, after beginning well, he decided to ride along to clear runners to his inside and cross to the fence and as such travelled further forward than was expected. PEARL AND GOLD, PRINCE GOLF and FIRST KNIGHT were sent for sampling.
