Racing Incident Report

On jumping, NASA PEARL was bumped by CLASSA VICTORY. GREENMORE began awkwardly. RAINBOW AND GOLD was slow to begin. Making the first turn, SONGS OF PRAISE was crowded for room between PRIZE WINNER and ELEPHANT DANCE which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of XLERATE. In the early stages, SPRINTER, which was to be ridden forward, raced wide and without cover. At the 1600 Metres, PRIZE WINNER got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MIGHTY HUGO. At the 1100 Metres, GREENMORE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of RAINBOW AND GOLD. Making the Home Turn, SEASONS TREASURE hung in. On straightening, NASA PEARL was bumped by ELEPHANT DANCE. After the 200 Metres, CLASSA VICTORY was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SEASONS TREASURE which shifted out. Throughout the race, TOP PRIZE hung out, then in the Straight tailed out. The performance of TOP PRIZE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TOP PRIZE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Apprentice K T Yeung (SONGS OF PRAISE) explained approaching the 1000 Metres he was racing behind ELEPHANT DANCE one horse off the rail, however, SONGS OF PRAISE was proving difficult to settle because of the slow pace, he therefore shifted to the outside of ELEPHANT DANCE and raced in a three wide position without cover. He said despite his mount continuing to over-race, he remained in that position until the 600 Metres when ELEPHANT DANCE shifted out, causing him to be carried wider for a short distance. Apprentice K T Yeung was advised in the circumstances of this race in the opinion of the Stewards he should have allowed his mount to stride forward after entering the Back Straight. TOP PRIZE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, TOP PRIZE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. MIGHTY HUGO and NASA PEARL were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported RAINBOW AND GOLD had bled from both nostrils.
