Racing Incident Report

On jumping, HORACE'S HORSE was crowded for room between TENNESSEE and SOUTHERN LIGHT which despite the effort of its rider got its head on the side and shifted in. As the gates opened, WINNING ATTORNEY got its head up and was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, PRECIOUS SWEETIE, SOUTH CHINA NINETY and FOREVER WIN bumped. As a result of this, PRECIOUS SWEETIE then shifted in and made contact with SOUTHERN LIGHT. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, CHAMP DE UNION got its head on the side, shifted out and made contact with TAKING THE LEAD which throughout the race raced wide and without cover. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, TAKING THE LEAD got its head on the side, shifted in and bumped CHAMP DE UNION. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, TENNESSEE got its head on the side, shifted out and was unable to maintain its position inside HEALTHY HEART. HORACE'S HORSE, which was following TENNESSEE, was steadied in consequence. Near the 200 Metres, HEALTHY HEART, which was inclined to be laying in, was bumped by TENNESSEE which shifted to the outside of SOUTHERN LIGHT into clear running. After the 200 Metres, LUCKY CHAMPION, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between HORACE'S HORSE and HEALTHY HEART which when giving ground was inconvenienced and shifted away from the heels of TENNESSEE which shifted out slightly. After the 100 Metres, SOUTHERN LIGHT shifted out and made contact with TENNESSEE. Over the concluding stages, LUCKY CHAMPION had difficulty obtaining clear running behind TENNESSEE and inside HEALTHY HEART which was giving ground. Because of this, LUCKY CHAMPION was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. Apprentice M W Leung (PRECIOUS SWEETIE) explained he had been instructed to lead if possible, however, the horse did not show pace and raced around midfield. He said prior to straightening he was momentarily crowded for room between HORACE'S HORSE which shifted out slightly and CHAMP DE UNION, then after the 200 Metres PRECIOUS SWEETIE got its head up and seemed reluctant to stride out, he therefore eased the horse down over the concluding stages. PRECIOUS SWEETIE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, PRECIOUS SWEETIE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was mildly lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, PRECIOUS SWEETIE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SOUTHERN LIGHT, TENNESSEE and FOREVER WIN were sent for sampling.
