Racing Incident Report

SPECTACULAR HIT, CHERISHED and DYNAMIC COMBO were slow to begin. Near the 800 Metres, CHERISHED was steadied away from the heels of DYNAMIC COMBO. After the 200 Metres, MULTI RANSOM was shifted to the inside of the heels of MAGIC TOUCH which shifted out. Near the 100 Metres, DYNAMIC COMBO, which was giving ground, got its head up when awkwardly placed between the heels of QUICK STEP and CHERISHED. Almost right on the winning post, TIRAMISU was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MAGIC TOUCH and because of this was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. In the Straight, QUICK STEP hung in. C Williams (RISING WIN) explained when he was successful on the horse over the course and distance last start from barrier 11, it had been thought the horse would not show the necessary speed to cross runners to its inside and to avoid being forced to race wide he was instructed to have the horse behind midfield with cover if possible. He said tonight RISING WIN had drawn the outside barrier, however, it was felt the horse would be able to obtain a position behind the lead without being made use of in the early stages, it was therefore decided to ride the horse in this position if RISING WIN began well. He said RISING WIN was able to cross and race comfortably behind the lead, enjoyed a good run throughout, however, failed to quicken when asked after straightening. He said immediately after the race he had discussed the horse's performance with Trainer T W Leung who said in his opinion RISING WIN may not have backed up following its run last week when being asked to carry large weights on both occasions. D Whyte (MR BEAUTIFUL) explained the horse travelled in a rearward position as is usual. He said passing the 800 Metres CHERISHED improved to race on his outside which obliged him to remain racing on the fence. He said when CHERISHED shifted out at the 600 Metres to a three wide position, a narrow run presented itself in a two wide position between EL VIENTO and DYNAMIC COMBO. He said at this time DYNAMIC COMBO was being hard ridden to maintain its position and appeared to be showing a tendency to lay in, therefore he elected not to improve his position at that time as he felt he would be disappointed for running. He said entering the Straight he shifted out to follow ACCLAMATION as he considered that horse would close the race off strongly, however, over the final 200 Metres he was unable to obtain clear running behind ACCLAMATION on the outside of RISING WIN which was giving ground and inside the heels of QUICK STEP and because of this MR BEAUTIFUL was not tested. ACCLAMATION, MAGIC TOUCH and CHINA WORLD were sent for sampling.
