Racing Incident Report

On jumping, RUN AND WIN stumbled. Also on jumping, JOLLY GAINS shifted in and bumped JOY FAY FAY, then shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between JOY FAY FAY which shifted out slightly and WINNING COUNTER which got its head on the side and shifted in away from PAOBRIDGE. SPECIAL KING PRAWN was slow to begin. NOBLE HERO began awkwardly. Near the 900 Metres, JOY FAY FAY was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DIAMOND CENTURY and racing tight inside JOLLY GAINS which itself was racing tight inside WINNING COUNTER. At the 600 Metres, OKEYDOKEY was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY PARTNERS which got its head up and lost ground. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, NOBLE HERO hung out badly, shifted wider on the track and as a result GRAND FIGHTER was carried wider. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE HERO will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. Near the 500 Metres, SPECIAL KING PRAWN was checked when momentarily tightened inside HAPPY PARTNERS which was carried in slightly by JOY FAY FAY which at that time got its head on the side and shifted ground. Over the concluding stages, JOY FAY FAY hung in and because of this was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. When questioned, K McEvoy (WINNING COUNTER) said he had been instructed to have the horse in a prominent position. He said WINNING COUNTER began only fairly and not as well as PAOBRIDGE which had drawn to his outside and that horse almost immediately crossed him. He said near the 900 Metres NOBLE HERO which was following PAOBRIDGE across shifted in when not quite clear and because of this he steadied WINNING COUNTER and lost some ground. He said almost immediately after this he received further crowding between JOLLY GAINS which was being hard ridden on his inside and RUN AND WIN which shifted in slightly and as a consequence he lost further ground and ended up with the rear. He said after receiving this interference he elected to ensure WINNING COUNTER was properly balanced and shifted across behind runners to avoid racing four wide. K McEvoy was told his explanation of his riding in the early stages would be recorded. NOBLE HERO was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, NOBLE HERO was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. JOLLY GAINS and SONGS OF THE SUN were sent for sampling.
