Racing Incident Report
As J Holder was overweight, permission was given for S K Sit to be substituted as the rider of SOARING ANGEL. For accepting this ride when subsequently found to be overweight, J Holder was fined $4,000 [Rule 88(5)]. During the preliminary, R Fradd was dislodged from NEVER HEADED. NEVER HEADED travelled for some distance before being recaptured. Acting on veterinary advice that NEVER HEADED was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. CHINA WORLD and STOIC were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, BEING FAMOUS, which had shifted out slightly, was steadied away from the heels of MAXIMUM JOY. Making the turn near the 1200 Metres, GOLD MASTER hung out. Making the turn near the 700 Metres, MAGIC TEMPLE got its head on the side and lay in. Also making the turn near the 700 Metres, EASY GAME was checked when crowded for room inside GOLD SANDFIELD (K S Yu) which shifted in slightly whilst being ridden along. In the circumstances, K S Yu was severely reprimanded and told he would be expected to exercise more care than he did on this occasion. After the 600 Metres, STOIC was momentarily crowded for room between BEING FAMOUS which shifted out slightly and GOLD MASTER which when giving ground shifted in. After straightening, SUPER MARKSMAN was carried wider by SOARING ANGEL. G Mossé (CHINA WORLD) explained the horse enjoyed a nice run throughout the race, however, when placed under pressure prior to straightening immediately put its head up, was reluctant to stride out and appeared to be shortening in its action. He said he became concerned that something might be amiss with CHINA WORLD, therefore he did not ride the horse out as he normally would. CHINA WORLD was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, CHINA WORLD was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, CHINA WORLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOLD MASTER and MAXIMUM JOY were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of GOLD MASTER and MAXIMUM JOY after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of GOLD MASTER, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLD MASTER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BEING FAMOUS and NEW MILESTONE were sent for sampling.
