Racing Incident Report
The Veterinary Officer reported that THUNDER STORM was noted to have an abrasion in the muzzle whilst in the holding stalls, however, was considered suitable to race. METRO FLYER bounded in the air at the start and consequently lost ground. DANTHEMAN began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped CHAMP DE UNION, causing both horses to become unbalanced. Shortly after the start, ONLY YOU was steadied away from the heels of SIAMERIC TE SPECSO. Also shortly after the start, NAVIGATE UNICORN was crowded for room between THUNDER STORM and SUPREME STAR which on jumping shifted out. Shortly after this, THUNDER STORM was steadied away from the heels of CHAMP DE UNION which shifted in. Making the first turn, DOLPHIN STAR was momentarily crowded for room by SUPREME STAR which shifted in slightly. Near the 700 Metres, ONLY YOU was steadied when crowded for room inside SUPREME STAR which when racing fiercely was steadied away from the heels of HIGHLAND DAWN which was laying in badly and shifted in. Passing the 600 Metres, SIAMERIC TE SPECSO brushed the running rail when racing tight inside MAJIN BUU which shifted in slightly after being bumped by HIGHLAND DAWN. Passing the 200 Metres, A Delpech (CHAMP DE UNION) momentarily dropped his left side rein. Near the 150 Metres, SUPREME STAR, which was hanging in, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of HIGHLAND DAWN which became unbalanced. Over the concluding stages, HIGHLAND DAWN raced tight between CHAMP DE UNION and SUPREME STAR (O Chavez) which continued to shift in. O Chavez was advised in similar circumstances he must make every endeavour to keep his mounts on a straight course. SIAMERIC TE SPECSO and SUPREME STAR were sent for sampling. After the race, S Dye (METRO FLYER) reported the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. The Veterinary Officer said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to be a "roarer".
