Racing Incident Report
HAPPY WINNING, second Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 8.11.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY WINNING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WIKI WIKI was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between NAUGHTY BOY and COULDN'T CARE LESS which shifted out. SURE FORTUNE was slow to begin. From the outside gate, ERGO SUM raced wide and without cover throughout. After the 600 Metres, COULDN'T CARE LESS became unbalanced and lost ground when awkwardly placed between HAR HAR CHARMS and WIKI WIKI which shifted out slightly. Near the 200 Metres, BODACIOUS, which was closing the race off fairly, was steadied away from the heels of HAR HAR CHARMS which was carried wider by WIKI WIKI. For the major part of the race, WIKI WIKI hung out and proved difficult to ride. D Whyte (HAR HAR CHARMS) said he anticipated riding the horse in 4th or 5th position. He said HAR HAR CHARMS began only fairly, he then rode along to make up ground and elected to take a position behind MIRACULOUS and as a consequence travelled slightly further back than intended. He said if he had not taken this position he would have been left racing without cover. WIKI WIKI was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WIKI WIKI after the race did not show any significant findings. HAR HAR CHARMS, KIMBO KID and SURE FORTUNE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported KIMBO KID had lost its right front plate.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 10 November 2005)
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that ERGO SUM was this morning found to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ERGO SUM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
