Racing Incident Report

VROOM VROOM was withdrawn on 1.4.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality and dehydration) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter WHATABOB (C Brown). Before being allowed to race again, VROOM VROOM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BUMPER BUMPER began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped DILIGENT. NOBLE SILENCE and GOLDEN SUN were slow to begin. CARRIZO CREEK began awkwardly. Near the 900 Metres, JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE, which was proving difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of TCHAIKOVSKY, got its head up when being steadied. As a consequence of this, NOBLE CRUSADER, which was following JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE, shifted out and caused inconvenience on its outside to WHATABOB. After the 700 Metres, WHATABOB was carried wider after being bumped by NOBLE CRUSADER which at this time shifted to the outside of BUMPER BUMPER. At the 300 Metres, GOLDEN SUN was checked when disappointed for running between WHATABOB and NOBLE SILENCE which was carried out by JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE. Throughout the race, SHANGHAI LAD raced wide and without cover and then over the concluding stages hung in. M Rodd (NOBLE CRUSADER), 6th placegetter, explained close to the winning post his mount got its head on the side and was inclined to shift in. Because of this, he put the whip away in an endeavour to straighten his mount and as a consequence did not ride it right to the line. WHATABOB was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WHATABOB after the race did not show any significant findings. NOBLE CRUSADER, TCHAIKOVSKY and DILIGENT were sent for sampling. After the race, an endoscopic examination was carried out on NOBLE CRUSADER at the request of Mr J Moore, the horse's trainer. The Veterinary Officer reported this examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE CRUSADER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
