Racing Incident Report

CELESTIAL STEEL was withdrawn on 27.9.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter STABLE MAIL (C Brown). Before being allowed to race again, CELESTIAL STEEL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. COSMO SUCCESS and ART TRADER bumped at the start. SUPER WONGCHOY was slow to begin. Making the Home Turn, STABLE MAIL got its head on the side and lay in, resulting in SUPER WONGCHOY being momentarily crowded for room. At the entrance to the Straight, COSMO SUCCESS was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREAT ACHIEVEMENT. For the majority of the race, ART TRADER raced three wide without cover. Prior to the declaration of weighed-in, S Dye (CRYSTAL) sought application to the Stewards for the horse to be declared a non-runner on the grounds that it had had an unfair start. The Stewards found that CRYSTAL was standing awkwardly in the barriers, causing S Dye to momentarily take his left hand off the reins. As the gates opened, CRYSTAL bounded in the air and began awkwardly, resulting in S Dye becoming unbalanced in the saddle. In all the circumstances, the Stewards believed this was not an appropriate occasion on which they should exercise their powers under Rule 12(19), therefore CRYSTAL was deemed a runner. CZAR OF PRUSSIA and KINGSTON WINNER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, CZAR OF PRUSSIA was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of KINGSTON WINNER after the race did not show any significant findings. COSMO SUCCESS, GREAT ACHIEVEMENT and MONEY STRONG were sent for sampling.
