Racing Incident Report
MOVE IT, HAPPY MASTER and ENGINEERING WONDER were slow to begin. VISIONNAIRE began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. As the gates opened, BEAUTY PLUS began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped CANNONISE. HELENE ELEGANCE began awkwardly and bumped CALIFORNIA PRINCE at the start. For some distance after the start, CALIFORNIA PRINCE raced tight between HELENE ELEGANCE and WIN AGAIN which was crowded for room inside THUNDER MAN. Near the 1150 Metres, CALIFORNIA PRINCE was checked when unable to hold its position between WIN AGAIN and HELENE ELEGANCE which shifted out after bumping with AMO. In this incident, AMO after making contact with HELENE ELEGANCE shifted in, causing BEAUTY PLUS to be taken in onto the hindquarters of CANNONISE, resulting in both CANNONISE and BEAUTY PLUS becoming unbalanced. The incident in the opinion of the Stewards was accidental and no action was taken. In the early and middle stages, THUNDER MAN raced wide and without cover. Near the 700 Metres, AMO commenced to race fiercely and was checked away from the heels of OKEYDOKEY. Near the 50 Metres, O Doleuze (HAPPY MASTER) dropped his whip. O Doleuze said his mount raced greenly in the early stages of the race and near the 600 Metres became badly unbalanced, losing considerable ground. MOVE IT, which was following HAPPY MASTER, was steadied away from the heels of that horse and shifted out in consequence. He said he initially felt HAPPY MASTER may have broken down at this point, but he then commenced to ride the horse along and it responded to his riding. He added HAPPY MASTER appeared sound on returning to the Parade Ring. HELENE ELEGANCE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HELENE ELEGANCE after the race did not show any significant findings. CANNONISE, ENGINEERING WONDER and BEAUTY PLUS were sent for sampling.
