Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Parade Ring, it was noted the left hind plate of SUPER HONEY had shifted. This plate was reset prior to the horse entering the Parade Ring. On jumping, GOLD SANDFIELD leant against the inside of its stall and was slow to begin. When the gates opened, EASY GAME was bumped by NICKU NICKU which got its head up and shifted out. DURABLE was slow to muster speed. Near the 1000 Metres, ONE SHOT was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER HONEY which shifted in when barely clear. For some distance after the 800 Metres, SUPER IDEAL was steadied when awkwardly placed inside CLASSA VICTORY and outside the heels of NICKU NICKU. Then near the 700 Metres, SUPER IDEAL was checked when disappointed for running between those horses. The Stewards opened an inquiry into the reason for CLASSA VICTORY initially being crowded for room prior to straightening and then at the 400 Metres falling, resulting in Apprentice C K Tong, its rider, being dislodged. Evidence was taken from S Dye (CLASSIC KING), G Schofield (TELECOM TYCOON) and A Delpech (HEROIC ATTRIBUTE). As Apprentice Tong was transported to hospital and was therefore unavailable to attend this inquiry, the Stewards adjourned the matter until Apprentice Tong is able to attend. In the early part of the Straight, NICKU NICKU was held up and unable to improve between HEROIC ATTRIBUTE and TELECOM TYCOON. Throughout the race, HEROIC ATTRIBUTE raced wide and without cover. SUPER IDEAL was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPER IDEAL after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER HONEY, EASY GAME and GOLD SANDFIELD were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer noted CLASSIC KING had sustained lacerations to the right hock and tendon areas. Before being allowed to race again, CLASSIC KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
