Racing Incident Report

DONGGUAN VICTORY was slow to begin. MA WAN MIRACLE bounded in the air and lost ground at the start. From a wide barrier, MAGIC TEMPLE was taken across behind runners. Making the first turn, WINNING SMILE got its head on the side and was steadied when awkwardly placed outside MODERN PROSPECT and close to the heels of FORTUNE GOLD. DANZIGMOUNTAIN was steadied in consequence. C Soumillon (NOBLE WIND) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that making the first turn he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of KING HOGAN, causing that horse to be carried in and cause crowding on its inside to MA WAN MIRACLE which as a result lost its rightful running and was checked. C Soumillon was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Thursday 9 March 2006 and expire on Thursday 16 March 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, C Soumillon was fined $80,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays. When MA WAN MIRACLE checked, inconvenience was caused to DONGGUAN VICTORY which was crowded for room and MAGIC TEMPLE which was checked. At the 1200 Metres, MAGIC TEMPLE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside MA WAN MIRACLE which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in away from DANZIGMOUNTAIN. For a considerable distance after straightening, GIDDY KIPPER was steadied when held up and unable to improve while racing behind TRIUMPH which at this time was giving ground. At the 300 Metres, JOYFUL UNION had difficulty obtaining clear running behind NOBLE WIND. At the 200 Metres and again near the 150 Metres, GIDDY KIPPER and JOYFUL UNION bumped when endeavouring to improve on the inside of NOBLE WIND. GOODWOOD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOODWOOD after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of GOODWOOD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOODWOOD will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LEGIONNAIRE and MAGIC TEMPLE were sent for sampling. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on DANZIGMOUNTAIN at the request of the trainer. The Veterinary Officer said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DANZIGMOUNTAIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 6 March 2006)
GOODWOOD, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. GOODWOOD was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. As previously advised, GOODWOOD will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
