Racing Incident Report

CAPITALAND began awkwardly and lost ground. BENEFICIAL was slow to begin. LUCKY DANSKE began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground, then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. Approaching the passing the 400 Metres, CALIFORNIA HEART was held up and unable to obtain clear running. At the 400 Metres, FRIENDSHIP, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied away from the heels of TOWERING FEELING, then near the 200 Metres was steadied away from the heels of ESPERANZA which shifted in when barely clear. After the 200 Metres, PICTURE PERFECT, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of BRAVE KNIGHT which shifted out. The performances of GENERAL KINGY and CAPITALAND, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GENERAL KINGY and CAPITALAND will both have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. S K Sit (GENERAL KINGY) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse which was stepping up in distance to 1400 Metres today in 2nd or 3rd position if possible. He said because of the way the race was run in the early stages he had to make some use of GENERAL KINGY to cross runners to his inside. He said after crossing the fence near the 1000 Metres in the lead he then allowed TERRAFERMA to improve on his outside. He did say previously GENERAL KINGY had performed satisfactorily over 1400 Metres when ridden in a forward position. CAPITALAND and LUCKY DANSKE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CAPITALAND and LUCKY DANSKE after the race did not show any significant findings. TOWERING FEELING and ENCHANTED were sent for sampling.
