Racing Incident Report
MYTHIC STEED, HAPPY FIT and RAMPANT LION were slow to begin. DANEMAN HILL began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. In the middle stages and in the Home Straight, ROCKET AND GOLD hung out. At the 700 Metres, HAPPY FIT, which had been racing ungenerously, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DANEMAN HILL. After the 100 Metres, MIRACULOUS was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ABLE STANDARD. When questioned, Apprentice H W Lai (WINE WIN) said the early stages of today's race were run at a fast tempo, the same as the horse's previous start. He said today from a wide barrier he went forward, shifted across and raced outside FAST WINNER in the lead. He said WINE WIN did not relax as it had at its previous start when following the leader and because of this over about the final 250 Metres gave ground. WINE WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, WINE WIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. MIRACULOUS, FOREVER FORTUNE and ABLE STANDARD were sent for sampling.
