Racing Incident Report
QI'S PET began awkwardly, shifted out and caused some inconvenience to CENTENNIAL SMILE. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, SAMBUOYANT, which was racing tight with SOHNA, failed to muster speed. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, WAIT FOR ME was steadied away from the heels of SAMBUOYANT which was steadied when awkwardly placed between KING OF SHAVER and VITALITY CHAMP which got its head on the side and shifted in away from MEATH. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, SOHNA was steadied to obtain a position on the rail behind KING OF SHAVER. For some distance approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, SUPER CHARGE and VITALITY CHAMP were crowded on several occasions when racing tight inside MEATH (F Coetzee). F Coetzee was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to allow runners to his inside comfortable racing room. After the 500 Metres, VITALITY CHAMP hung out and shifted wider on the track. Approaching the Home Turn, SAMBUOYANT lost ground when following MEATH which at this stage was giving ground. Approaching the 100 Metres, WAIT FOR ME, which was closing the race off strongly, was bumped by QI'S PET which when giving ground was carried out by ALL OUR WAY. Throughout the race, MEATH travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. The performances of VITALITY CHAMP and THAT'S IT, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, VITALITY CHAMP and THAT'S IT will both have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. D Whyte (KING OF SHAVER) said his mount travelled only fairly throughout the race and was under pressure well before straightening. He said in his opinion the poor performance of KING OF SHAVER was due to the rise in class of tonight's race as compared to when it was successful at its most recent start. KING OF SHAVER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. MEATH and SAMBUOYANT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KING OF SHAVER, MEATH and SAMBUOYANT after the race did not show any significant findings. CENTENNIAL SMILE and ALL OUR WAY were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported SOHNA had lost its left front plate.
