Racing Incident Report

On jumping, PACIFIC ALLIANCE was taken across behind runners. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, G-ONE LEADING was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPEED OF LIGHT which when being hard ridden to maintain its position was carried in slightly by KAISER'S CHOIX which shifted ground when barely clear. No action was taken. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, PACIFIC ALLIANCE hung out. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, FISHKING EXCELLENT hung out. Y T Cheng (G-ONE LEADING) explained the intention had been to lead on the horse as it had done at its last start. He said after beginning well he rode G-ONE LEADING along, however, his mount was slow to muster speed and as a consequence travelled in a position three back on the rail. He said G-ONE LEADING travelled only fairly into the Back Straight and when he endeavoured to improve his position, his mount did not respond to his riding. He said in the early part of the Straight G-ONE LEADING kept on one-paced, however, gave ground over the final 200 Metres. He was not able to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse other than he did not feel the horse was comfortable racing behind runners and might not have backed up from its race last Sunday. G-ONE LEADING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of G-ONE LEADING after the race did not show any significant findings. KAISER'S CHOIX and RISING WIN were sent for sampling.
