Racing Incident Report

SHI SHAN was slow to begin. EASYGOING began awkwardly and travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. Near the 800 Metres, LET ME HANDLE IT was bumped by SHI SHAN which shifted out. After obtaining a position behind SHI SHAN passing the 800 Metres, LET ME HANDLE IT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse for a short distance. Near the 600 Metres, LET ME HANDLE IT lost ground when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHI SHAN which itself raced tight between MY MELODY and HOT SHOT which shifted in slightly. Rounding the Home Turn, LET ME HANDLE IT shifted out away from the heels of SHI SHAN, resulting in DARPANA being crowded for room out onto the hindquarters of SUPREME YEARS which became badly unbalanced. BET ON ME had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. At the 200 Metres, LET ME HANDLE IT was shifted to the inside of HOT SHOT to improve its position after being disappointed for running between that horse and TELECOM SUPER STAR, both of which shifted some ground. Over the concluding stages, LET ME HANDLE IT was held up for clear running behind HOT SHOT and as a consequence was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. Over the final 200 Metres, TELECOM SUPER STAR got its head on the side, lay in and proved difficult to ride. When questioned, J Lloyd stated that from a wide barrier it had been hoped that SUPREME YEARS would be able to obtain a position in about midfield with cover if possible. He said shortly after the start he attempted to obtain a position behind HOT SHOT, however, DARPANA maintained its position to the inside of SUPREME YEARS and for this reason he was not able to shift in and obtain cover as he had hoped. He said consequently SUPREME YEARS travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. He said SUPREME YEARS became unbalanced rounding the Home Turn when bumped by DARPANA. He added that despite SUPREME YEARS having to cover extra ground throughout the race, the horse closed off the race quite well. A veterinary inspection of TELECOM SUPER STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. BET ON ME and MARVEL PLUS were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HOT SHOT had lost its right front plate.
