Racing Incident Report
MAROON PRINCE was withdrawn on 8.3.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by 1st Standby Declared Starter ELECTRONIC FORTUNE (T Angland). SAMMY’S FALCON was withdrawn on 9.3.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by 2nd Standby Declared Starter ARCHER’S BOW (C Y Ho). Before being allowed to race again, MAROON PRINCE and SAMMY’S FALCON will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SUPER GOAL ELITE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ELECTRONIC FORTUNE.
SAFARI MAGIC became unbalanced and lost ground after being bumped at the start by GERONIMO MEADOW which shifted out. After this, SAFARI MAGIC was vigorously ridden to make up lost ground.
Despite being ridden along approaching the 800 Metres to maintain its position between VICTORY IDE SAY and SAFARI MAGIC, FLYING IBIS was unable to maintain its position which allowed VICTORY IDE SAY the opportunity to shift away from the rail.
Rounding the Home Turn, FLYING IBIS raced tight between SAFARI MAGIC and FAY DEEP which itself was hampered after shifting out and improving into tight running between FLYING IBIS and GOOD TIMES ROLL which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KA WAI FORTUNE which was commencing to give ground.
FLYING IBIS had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Near the 250 Metres, FAY DEEP was held up for clear running when awkwardly placed close to the heels of VICTORY IDE SAY.
For a short distance after the 200 Metres, GOOD TIMES ROLL was held up for clear running behind ROCKET PROUD and inside ARCHER’S BOW which was giving ground.
The performances of JOYFUL WINNER II, which travelled wide and without cover, SUPER GOAL ELITE and KA WAI FORTUNE, all of which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL WINNER II, SUPER GOAL ELITE and KA WAI FORTUNE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned, T Angland stated that it had been intended to ride ELECTRONIC FORTUNE in a more forward position than eventuated. He said however that after shifting across behind SUPER GOAL ELITE in the early stages, he elected to allow SAFARI MAGIC which was being vigorously ridden along to cross his mount and provide it with cover as he felt that this horse would be a good chance in today’s race. He said he felt that had he elected to ride his mount along and improve his position to be racing inside SAFARI MAGIC, ELECTRONIC FORTUNE may have been left racing without cover carrying top weight in today’s race. He said in the Straight ELECTRONIC FORTUNE proved very difficult to ride and hung in under pressure despite him changing the whip over into his right hand near the 200 Metres.
GOOD TIMES ROLL, VICTORY IDE SAY and FLYING IBIS were sent for sampling.
