Racing Incident Report

At declaration time, M Chadwick was declared as the rider of both FINN MACCOOL and WINNIE’S HORSE. It was established that M Chadwick had a firm commitment to ride FINN MACCOOL. As such, the Stewards permitted G Mossé to be substituted as the rider of WINNIE’S HORSE. For this declaration error, Trainer A S Cruz was fined $2,000.
ATACX began awkwardly and shortly after the start became badly unbalanced when bumped by PACKING MOTOR which shifted in after making contact with LUCKY DAN.
Shortly after the start, SMART MAN was crowded for room between THE PRINCE and PSYCHOLOGIST which got its head on the side and shifted out away from ULTIMATE WINNERS. After this, both SMART MAN and PSYCHOLOGIST were taken across behind runners.
R Fourie (KING TAI SING) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of ADORATION, causing that horse to be taken in across the rightful running of MR GINGER which was in turn taken in across the rightful running of PACKING MOTOR which was tightened onto ATACX, resulting in MR GINGER, ATACX and PACKING MOTOR having to be severely checked and ADORATION being hampered. R Fourie was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 19 May 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Saturday, 11 May 2013. In addition, R Fourie was fined $35,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday.
When ADORATION shifted out to relieve the tightening to runners to its inside approaching the 900 Metres, LUCKY DAN, which was proving difficult to settle when racing greenly, got its head up when being checked away from the heels of ADORATION.
Rounding the Home Turn, SMART MAN and FINN MACCOOL raced tight as FINN MACCOOL shifted out into clear running.
Throughout the race, DYNAMIC VOYAGE and PSYCHOLOGIST travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, D Whyte reported that in the Straight ADORATION shortened stride and was most disappointing. A veterinary inspection of ADORATION including an endoscopic examination immediately following the race showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ADORATION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of ATACX immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ADORATION, WINNIE’S HORSE and THE PRINCE were sent for sampling.
