Racing Incident Report
WATCH OUT began awkwardly and then lost ground after being bumped by CALL ME ACHIEVER which shifted out.
As the start was effected, G-ONE LEADER lifted its front feet off the ground and began only fairly.
EN CIVIL was crowded for room at the start between PIKACHU and TANGO FIRE, both of which shifted ground. After this, PIKACHU and EN CIVIL were taken across behind runners as was ELITE SPIRIT.
After the 1000 Metres, EN CIVIL, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PIKACHU.
C Y Ho (PEARL WIN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of LANG TAI SING, causing that horse to be taken in across the rightful running of GLORY BOY which as a result was severely hampered and taken in onto G-ONE LEADER which was checked and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled. In this incident, WATCH OUT, which was following GLORY BOY, was badly hampered in consequence and PIKACHU was also inconvenienced. C Y Ho was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 29 June 2014 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension shall commence on Thursday, 19 June 2014 on which day Jockey Ho was due to resume race riding from a suspension incurred at the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 25 May 2014. In addition, C Y Ho was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 2 further racedays. In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration that this was the 7th occasion this season that Jockey Ho had been found to have breached the careless riding Rule.
Passing the 700 Metres, WATCH OUT, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied away from the heels of GLORY BOY.
For some distance in the early part of the Straight, HELLA HEDGE was held up for clear running when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CALL ME ACHIEVER.
Also for some distance in the early part of the Straight, TONYBOY was held up for clear running behind MULTIEXPRESS.
Passing the 200 Metres, PEARL WIN was awkwardly placed inside the heels of LANG TAI SING.
Throughout the race, TANGO FIRE travelled wide and without cover.
GOLDEN DEER and LANG TAI SING were sent for sampling.
