Racing Incident Report
REVE PARISIEN began awkwardly.
PERFECT PAIR shifted out on jumping and bumped SUPER WINNER.
From the outside barriers, AMAZING CHOCOLATE, DECRYPT and COPARTNER AMBITION were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, OSCAR GLORY was slow to muster speed.
SUPER WINNER travelled wide and without cover until passing the 600 Metres at which time OSCAR GLORY was left racing wide and without cover.
At the 400 Metres, POWERFUL WINGS was shifted out away from the heels of RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE (M L Yeung) which shifted to the outside of HARMONY WIN WIN when not clear of POWERFUL WINGS. M L Yeung was reprimanded.
Passing the 400 Metres, COPARTNER AMBITION was brushed and taken wider by GOLD MARQUIS which shifted out.
REVE PARISIEN had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 200 Metres was awkwardly placed behind SUPER WINNER when being shifted to the inside of that horse to obtain clear running.
After the 100 Metres, DECRYPT was awkwardly placed outside the heels of HARMONY WIN WIN which shifted out under pressure.
Close to the finishing line, HARMONY WIN WIN was awkwardly placed inside the heels of RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE and because of this was not ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
Also close to the finishing line, PERFECT PAIR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DECRYPT and because of this was not able to be fully tested over the concluding stages.
After the race, K Teetan stated that EXCELLENT DADDY travelled very keenly behind the speed in the middle stages and would not relax for him. He said EXCELLENT DADDY made the turn near the 900 Metres awkwardly due to the manner in which it was over-racing at this time. He said EXCELLENT DADDY continued to prove very difficult to settle and for some distance approaching and passing the 700 Metres was very awkwardly placed behind SKYEY SUPREME. He said after shifting his mount into clear running to the outside of SKYEY SUPREME at the entrance to the Straight, EXCELLENT DADDY would not change lead legs and despite his efforts would not do so until near the 300 Metres. He said at this time EXCELLENT DADDY made an abnormal breathing noise and then over the concluding stages weakened noticeably which he attributed to the horse not relaxing in the middle stages. A veterinary inspection of EXCELLENT DADDY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, J Moreira stated that, from barrier 11, he was able to shift GOLD MARQUIS across in the early stages to obtain a position in about midfield and outside POWERFUL WINGS. He said although GOLD MARQUIS was required to race three wide, the horse was able to race with cover behind OSCAR GLORY. He said he first became concerned with the manner in which GOLD MARQUIS was travelling at about the 700 Metres as that horse came under pressure and was having difficulty maintaining its position outside POWERFUL WINGS. He said he commenced to ride GOLD MARQUIS along to improve its position near the 650 Metres, however, GOLD MARQUIS would not respond to his riding and he was required to place the horse under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn. He added that in the Straight GOLD MARQUIS shifted ground on a number of occasions and despite being ridden along did not respond to his riding. He said because of the manner in which GOLD MARQUIS was shifting ground and as the horse was weakening, he eased it down over the final 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection of GOLD MARQUIS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of GOLD MARQUIS, a favoured runner for today’s race and which finished towards the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLD MARQUIS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of OSCAR GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
COPARTNER AMBITION and RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE were sent for sampling.
