Racing Incident Report
MASTER MONTARO shifted in at the start and bumped IMA SINGLE MAN which shifted in and inconvenienced BAND OF BROTHERS.
From the outside barriers, BOURBONAIRE and NAVAS TWO were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 1000 Metres, CAPTAIN WIN (A Badel) commenced to travel keenly and was shifted out away from the heels of GOOD LUCK FRIEND and in doing so bumped MASTER MONTARO. CAPTAIN WIN then commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of GOOD LUCK FRIEND. When being checked, CAPTAIN WIN shifted out away from behind GOOD LUCK FRIEND and in doing so bumped MASTER MONTARO on a number of occasions, resulting in that horse being hampered and taken wider and without cover. After this, CAPTAIN WIN continued to prove very difficult to settle and again got its head up near the 750 Metres when racing close to the heels of WINNER METHOD which for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover. When MASTER MONTARO was hampered passing the 900 Metres, BAND OF BROTHERS, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence. IMA SINGLE MAN, which was following CAPTAIN WIN, was also inconvenienced passing the 900 Metres. After the race, A Badel stated that due to the racing manners of CAPTAIN WIN at this time of the race, the horse was then not able to finish the race off strongly over the concluding stages.
Making the turn near the 900 Metres, THE RUNNER got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SILVER EXPRESS.
Rounding the Home Turn, BAND OF BROTHERS raced tight outside CAPTAIN WIN which shifted out to obtain clear running.
Passing the 400 Metres, WINNER METHOD momentarily raced tight between MASTER MONTARO and GOOD LUCK FRIEND, both of which shifted ground.
WINNING METHOD had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 300 Metres and then when being shifted to the outside of MASTER MONTARO after the 250 Metres was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse as MASTER MONTARO got its head on the side and lay out under pressure. WINNING METHOD was then able to obtain clear running after the 200 Metres.
Near the 150 Metres, K Teetan (WINNER METHOD) momentarily dropped his left rein.
In the Straight, BOURBONAIRE raced greenly and shifted ground on a number of occasions.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on HINCHINLOVE at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
A veterinary inspection of CAPTAIN WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CAPTAIN WIN, SILVER EXPRESS and GOOD LUCK FRIEND were sent for sampling.
