Trainer C W Chang confirmed the instructions and advised he issued such instructions to take advantage of tonight’s racing pattern which, in his opinion, had favoured on-pace runners. |

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, H Bowman stated that from a wide barrier he elected to take up a forward position as instructed. He said when unable to cross runners to his inside BEAU GOSSE was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event. He added that when placed under pressure from the 400 Metres BEAU GOSSE did not respond to his riding and gave ground in the Home Straight. Trainer D J Whyte advised that BEAU GOSSE had pleased him coming into tonight’s event but was of the opinion the wide run that the horse had endured was the reason for its disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race. |
