6 2 INVINCIBLE MISSILE (C037) Slow to begin. Approaching the 600 Metres was taken wider by CAN’T GO WONG which shifted out to improve.
7 3 SURE JOYFUL (G125) Bumped on jumping. H Bowman was fined a sum of $10,000 for failing to ride SURE JOYFUL to the finish of the event to the satisfaction of the Stewards. After the race, H Bowman stated that his mount raced a little keenly in the early stages but was obliged to shift three wide from the 550 Metres when TAKE ACTION did not improve into the event. He said as a result SURE JOYFUL was unable to finish the race off strongly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
8 1 D STAR (G374) Bumped at the start and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
9 6 CHEONG FAT (H058) Jumped awkwardly and made contact with D STAR. From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 11 RIGHT HONOURABLE (A164) No report.
11 5 TAKE ACTION (J098) Shifted in at the start and was bumped. After the race, K C Leung stated that when caught wide in the early stages and the pace of the event was run outside of standard, he allowed his mount to stride forward where it obtained a position outside the lead near the 1000 Metres. He added from the 700 Metres TAKE ACTION was under pressure and gave ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WV-A 7 STARSHIP EIGHTY (H022) After being placed in the barriers kicked out, resulting in its left hind leg being cast over the back gate for a considerable period. Acting on veterinary advice that STARSHIP EIGHTY was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, STARSHIP EIGHTY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
