Racing Incident Report

1 10 AWESOME TREASURE (E435) Bumped at the start. L Hewitson pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the 1000 Metres (see THE ALL OUT). Sent for sampling post-race.
2 8 REWARDING BUDDY (J373) Shortly after the start made contact with SWEET BRIAR due to both runners shifting ground. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 1 FORTUNE WHISKEY (J153) After travelling a short distance was hampered when crowded between GENIUS BABY and REWARDING BUDDY which shifted out.
4 4 GENIUS BABY (K132) After travelling a short distance bumped with FORTUNE WHISKEY and became unbalanced.
5 9 ROMAN CROWN (J456) No report.
6 7 ABSOLUTE LUCKY (K070) Jumped only fairly.
7 3 FREE PONY (K229) Near the 150 Metres was shifted to the outside of GLORY CLOUD to continue into clear running.
8 6 CHEVAL VICTORIOUS (J458) After travelling a short distance was checked to avoid GENIUS BABY when that runner was taken out.
9 11 JOLLY COMPANION (H454) Approaching the 1000 Metres was bumped heavily on the hindquarters, resulting in JOLLY COMPANION becoming unbalanced. H Doyle stated that after being heavily contacted on the hindquarters making the first turn she felt there may be something amiss with the horse and as a consequence she was reluctant to fully test it thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
10 12 GLORY CLOUD (H320) Lay out making the first turn. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GLORY CLOUD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
11 5 SWEET BRIAR (H044) Shortly after the start made contact with REWARDING BUDDY due to both runners shifting ground. H Bentley stated that his mount jumped awkwardly, made contact with AWESOME TREASURE and lost ground. He said despite riding his mount along in the early stages SWEET BRIAR did not show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
12 2 THE ALL OUT (K291) L Hewitson (AWESOME TREASURE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1000 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of THE ALL OUT, resulting in THE ALL OUT having to be restrained to avoid the heels of AWESOME TREASURE, shifting out and making contact with JOLLY COMPANION, resulting in THE ALL OUT having to be checked. L Hewitson was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Thursday, 1 January 2026 at Sha Tin. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
