4 1 OPTICAL FAMILY (BT173) C H Tse B Around midfield. Improved to prominent on straightening. Kept on fairly to hold position in straight without looking likely.
5 11 DECOUVERT (BT114) R Fradd B With rear. Gradually moved closer from 500 M to be around midfield on straightening. Responded well to continue making gradual ground in the run to the line.
6 10 HANDOVER (BS185) F Coetzee B In front of midfield and 3 wide. Initially did not quicken when asked on straightening. Gradually quickened after 400 M and continued to make nice ground in the run to the post.
7 12 UNIVERSAL STAR (BS188) J Egan -- Behind midfield. Remained near rear around home turn and then made good ground through field. Doing best work late.
8 9 REBEL LEADER (BV159) S King -- Behind midfield and 4 wide from difficult gate. Remained racing wide without cover throughout. Kept on fairly early in straight but effects of hard run set in at 200 M.
9 3 VIPER CORP (CA183) W M Lai -- Followed leaders. Remained same into straight but when asked to improve was inclined to lay in and kept on only one paced.
10 13 COGITO (BV344) K S Yu B1 Near rear after being checked at 1400 M. Remained wide in that position until straightening. Taken to outside at 400 M but only one paced. No more final 200 M.
