3 9 MERIDIAN STAR (BV177) C Williams SR Niggled along early but outpaced at rear. Improved slightly 1000 M out to be 6Ls off lead on fence. Crept close rounding home turn, 4Ls down into straight, ran on well from 300 M, one-paced last bit.
4 12 RED SUN (CA046) F Coetzee TT Soon handily placed 2Ls off pace on fence. Challenged leader 300 M out, hit front 200 M out, no extra when headed inside 100 M. (Swollen off side eye before race but passed suitable to race.)
5 14 THANK HEAVENS (BT224) E Legrix TT Settled 2 or 3 wide 5Ls off lead rear of midfield. Ran on steadily from 250 M, effort not sustained concluding stages.
6 4 GOGGLES (CB140) A Marcus H Missed start badly, gradually recovered ground to become midfield on rail 1100 M out. Made a little headway near 300 M, soon one-paced.
7 3 DANAMITE (CB003) D Dunn SR1 Jumped fairly, then travelled 2-wide 3Ls off pace just in front of mid-division. 4Ls down upon straightening, not much room near 400 M, steadied and shifted in abruptly, recovered a little late ground passing tired runners.
8 1 ASIA RISING (BT270) D Whyte -- Bit keen at rear, never less than 3-wide. Made up a little ground on outer from 250 M, one-paced closing stages.
9 13 SCORE (BS204) S Dye -- Well there and wide early, then steadily taken back to rear 1000 M out, racing 3 or 4 wide. 8Ls down at tail turning in, crowded, struck heels and nearly fell 300 M out, recovered and passed beaten runners final 200 M.
10 6 HAPPY MOMENTUM (BV264) O Doleuze -- Pulled a bit early around midfield. 4 or 5Ls adrift on straightening, minor improvement near 200 M, soon kept on at same pace.
11 2 BILLION WIN (BP218) M Cahill -- Behind leaders, began to struggle to keep up before straightening, faded from 350 M.
12 10 MONARDS (BV267) H K Yim B Pressed on to lead out wide, shifted across 1200 M out to be 3-wide outside leader. Took up lead into straight, swamped inside 300 M, dropped away.
13 5 GOOD RECORD (CA104) E Saint-Martin SR Never far off out wide without cover, 3Ls off lead swinging for home, gave ground quickly from 300 M.
14 8 MAN OF HONOUR (BS267) L Dettori H Began only fairly, steadily worked forward to take slender lead passing 1200 M. Headed just before straightening, weakened rapidly 300 M out and was not persevered with.
