1 11 AMO (CB125) G Schofield -- Jumped well and soon settled at midfield but 3-wide. Continued to travel comfortably in that position into home straight. Quickened nicely when asked and headed inside final 100 M. Held on at the line for a dead-heat win.
3 6 GRAND FIGHTER (CA225) W Smith B Began well and raced just behind pace until 800 M. Kept 2-wide and within 3Ls behind the lead going into the straight. No clear passage 300 M out but picked up nicely once finding daylight and closely followed winner home.
4 2 SONGS OF THE SUN (CB237) G Mosse -- Jumped to an early lead but raced keenly in the early stages. Continued to lead into the final stages until being swamped by the top three inside final 100 M.
5 7 SIR OCTAVIUS (CB427) S Dye -- Hovering around midfield shortly after the jumped and was niggled along to improve to a disputed lead at 800 M. Continued to race upside the leader and led briefly near final 200 M. Unable to sustain effort thereafter.
6 3 GLORY HERO (CA057) A Marcus BO Pushed along to race behind the leader in the early stages. Kept on fence and right behind the lead until final 200 M. Unable to get into a higher gear in the closing stages.
7 5 GOT IT GOOD (CC229) J Quinn -- Began fairly and raced on the fence at midfield. Continued to be held in similar position until being pressured on straightening. Responded only fairly in run to the line.
8 9 AURELIAN (CC025) D Whyte B Jumped slow from wide draw and was near last at 1000 M. Improved position slightly in the back straight but still trapped 3-wide. 4-wide turning for home and ran on without threatening.
9 12 MAJIN BUU (CC334) P H Lo V Jumped from widest draw and sat behind midfield early. Allowed to stride forward once in the back straight to be about a length behind pace but 3-wide. Continued to race 3-wide rounding home. Faded in the closing stages.
10 8 OPERA MAGIC (CB404) Y T Cheng B Remained racing near the rear in the early stages despite being pressured. Made no improvement in the back straight. Ran on without threatening in home straight.
11 4 KEV BUSHIDO (BV166) F Coetzee SR Soon racing in rear section. Struck on the heels near 700 M and was dragged behind. Last pair to enter home straight and made no impression.
12 1 MY CHIEF (BV044) A Delpech B1 Slowly away and raced keenly at the rear of the field in the early and middle stages. Found nothing on straightening and finished at the rear.
