2 2 INDUSTRIAL PRIDE (CB179) Y T Cheng B Missed the kick badly and was far behind in the early stages. Caught up with the field near 800 M but remained racing near the back until straightening. Responded well and made a strong run in the closing stages.
3 12 SALUZI (CB147) M W Leung -- Eased back from widest draw and raced near the rear in the early stages. Travelled 3-deep rear section in the backstraight. Caught wide turning for home and made up good ground in the straight.
4 5 SMART HORSE (BV096) G Schofield -- Behind midfield. Shifted in to race along the rails after 1000 M and dropped off slightly to be in rear section in the backstraight. Improved steadily on straightening despite being tightened 200 M.
5 10 FORTUNE LIFE (CB207) C Williams B Raced in a prominent position in the early and middle stages. On fence and about 2Ls behind the lead rounding home turn. Unable to pick up the pace on straightening and one-paced to line.
6 4 NOBLE MAN (CC099) F Coetzee -- Jumped awkwardly. Led briefly at 1200 M before settling 2-wide and a length behind the leader. Unable to pick up when pressured at 500 M and was one-paced in the straight.
7 3 GLORY HERO (CA057) D Whyte BO Eased back to settle on fence at midfield before entering first turn and remained in that position in the early and middle stages. Unable to quicken much on straightening.
8 8 NATIVE LANGUAGE (CB116) G Mosse B 3-wide at midfield in the early and middle stages. Widest turning in and made a brief run in the early part of the straight but was unable to sustain effort in the closing stages.
9 6 TRUST ME (CA144) W Smith -- Raced on fence in rear section early. Dropped further back after the 1200 M despite being urged and ended up racing in last place 800 M out. Remained in last place entering home straight and ran past a few beaten runners.
10 9 SANBENITO (CC256) J Quinn B 3-wide and 2Ls behind the lead at the first turn and trailed the lead by not more than 3Ls in the backstraight. Found nothing on straightening and dropped out in the closing stages.
11 1 OPERATION HUMOUR (BV111) C K Tong SR Near the lead in the early stages but dropped to midfield after steadying near 1000 M. Drifted behind midfield 600 M out and was 3-wide rounding home. Made no impression in the straight.
12 11 HAPPY CONTENDER (CC152) W C Marwing BO Better than midfield in the early and middle stages but was wide without cover. Drifted back despite being ridden at 500 M and weakened in straight.
