2 2 CELESTIAL MAGIC (CB363) D Dunn BO/TT Travelled comfortably behind the pacesetter and built up a gap of no less than 5Ls ahead the field until straightening. Not pressured until 250 M. Quickened when asked but was unable to hold off winner in the closing stages.
3 8 FLYING MACHINE (CB082) F Coetzee TT Enjoyed a run on fence at midfield in the early and middle stages. Quickened well under pressure 300 M and just missed 2nd place.
4 12 WINTROW (CC175) R Fradd -- Wide and behind midfield in the early stages. Caught widest rounding home turn. Ran on strongly in the straight and just missed a minor placing.
5 13 DANEHILL WARRIOR (CB452) C Williams -- Soon settled on fence behind midfield and kept in similar position entering home straight. Picked up well but was unable to gain ground on winner in the closing stages.
6 5 CHIU CHOW BROTHER (CA216) A Delpech -- Slowly away. Settled in rear section until being pressured just prior to straightening. Ran on steadily in the straight.
7 3 KENWOOD MELODY (BV014) A Marcus B Jumped very awkwardly and raced behind midfield in the early stages. Improved gradually after 1000 M. Made a brief charge inside final 400 M but unable to sustain effort in the closing stages.
8 6 SUPER KID (CC305) S Dye -- Taken back early from wide draw to race in a rearward position. Dropped to last place near 1000 M. Pressured just before straightening but no respond until final 200 M. Made up some ground in the closing stages.
9 7 SHANE (CC232) D Whyte -- 4-wide in rear section early. Recovered quickly after being severely checked at 1000 M. Remained near the back and caught wide rounding home turn. Ran on without threatening in the straight.
10 14 PAOBRIDGE (CB073) W Smith B Jumped well from widest draw and built a sizeable lead from the rest of the field. Continued to race in the lead until being swamped inside final 200 M.
11 9 ALL DONE (CB438) T Mundry -- Began awkwardly and was in last place until 1000 M. Remained near the back until straightening and was one-paced to line.
12 11 PERFECT MISSION (CC306) Y T Cheng -- Niggled along from 3-wide to be at midfield in the early and middle stages. Not much when asked in the straight.
13 1 SANGREAL (CD004) J Quinn -- Kept 2-wide and ahead of midfield until final 400 M. Dropped out gradually thereafter.
