2 11 TABBRIS (CB088) G Mosse -- Best out and ridden along to race in a forward position 3 wide through to straight. Ran on well when asked 400 M out but was unable to find an extra gear to overhaul the winner to settle for 2nd place.
3 5 HAPI HAPI (CD224) D Whyte -- Broke fairly and pushed along to be box-seated behind the leader. Popped off the rail on straightening to find clear running. Ran on well when clear running was obtained 250 M out to hold onto 3rd place.
4 3 MANIFEST (CC048) P Payne -- Broke fairly but was slightly outpaced and raced behind midfield around 3 wide. Made steady headway from the outside at home turn. Responded quite well when asked 350 M out but was unable to run down the 3rd placegetter.
5 2 HEKYLL N' JYDE (CC337) S Dye -- Broke well and hard ridden in the early stages to take narrow lead on rail through to straight. Kept on well when asked 350 M out but was headed shortly after the 200 M mark and became one pace thereafter.
6 1 FLYING EAGLE (CD151) B Prebble TT Broke fairly and niggled along to race in a forward position 2 wide. Lost little bit of ground at home turn to be in midfield on straightening. Under pressure 350 M out but kept on same pace to the line. (Blood in trachea.)
7 10 GLOBE RIVER (CD228) A Marcus -- Tardy start from widest and soon settled in a rearward position on rail to straight. Switched to the widest in straight to obtain clear running and made up little ground inside final 250 M to be closest at finish.
8 6 SUPREME STAR (CA206) D Dunn H Broke fairly and niggled along to race in midfield or worse 2 wide through to straight. Unable to quicken when asked 400 M out and only kept on evenly to the line.
9 14 UNIVERSAL PIONEER (CB293) C W Wong TT Broke fairly from wide draw but was unable muster early speed to be in midfield out wide without cover. Near the 600 M was heavily bumped and became badly unbalanced. One paced in straight and further weakened final 200 M.
10 9 TROPHY (CD027) R Fradd B/TT Tardy start from wide draw and steadily settled in a rearward position 3 wide. Switched wide on straightening to obtain clear running. Kept on same pace in straight and only ran past couple of beaten runners inside final 200 M.
11 12 GOLDEN GALLOPER (CD268) M Zahra -- From a wide draw was steadily eased to the rear and shifted to the rail. Had a tendency to hang out down back straight and hung out badly at home turn. Made no impression in straight.
12 13 KING OF TURBOT (CD181) C Williams -- Began awkwardly and dropped to the tail of the field on rail. Switched out on straightening to find clear running but failed to make up any ground in straight.
13 7 GOLD MASTER (CC365) H W Lai SR-/B2 Ridden along to race in midfield 2 wide. Near the 600 M whilst proving difficult to settle shifted out, bumped heavily with another runner and became badly unbalanced. Made no impression in straight.
14 4 STAR OF DELUXE (CD093) K W Tsui TT1 Unable to muster early speed and raced in midfield on rail through to straight. No extra in straight and steadily dropped out inside final 300 M.
