2 4 COURAGEOUSHEART (CD202) C Soumillon B Broke with field and niggled along to take up running on fence with no more than 1L advantage to straight. Ran on quite well when asked 400 M out but failed to match speed with winner in final 100 M and just held onto 2nd.
3 6 TELECOM TYCOON (CC039) O Doleuze V/TT Began well and soon raced in a forward position 3 wide with some cover through to straight. Responded quite well when asked 350 M out but just failed to run down the 2nd place- getter.
4 8 ACCELERATION (CD400) E Saint-Martin -- Began well from wide draw and steadily settled in midfield 3 wide with cover. Pushed along at home bend and made little headway. All out 350 M out and ran on steadily to miss the placings by a narrow margin.
5 14 SPEED OF LIGHT (CC333) W M Lai TT From a wide draw was soon eased to a rearward position but closer to the rail through to straight. Under pressure 350 M out and made up steady ground inside final 250 M to be closest at finish.
6 2 TELECOM SUPERBOSS (CD180) H W Lai B Broke fairly and hard ridden along in the early stages to race outside the leader through to straight. Under pressure 400 M out but unable to quicken and only able to run on evenly to the line.
7 9 MAGNIFICENT (CB390) A Delpech B Jumped fairly and pushed along to race in a handy position 2 wide through to straight. Unable to find an extra gear when asked 350 M out and kept on some pace to the line.
8 10 CHARIOT OF WEI HAI (CB144) M W Leung TT Began quite well but was soon eased to the back around 3 wide. Made some headway from the outside rounding the home turn. Kept on same pace in straight and only ran past several beaten runners inside final 250 M.
9 13 PORT OF HOPE (CC019) R Fradd V/H From the widest draw was soon eased to the rear closer to the rail. Switched out on straightening to obtain clear running, only able to run on evenly to the line when asked 350 M out.
10 12 ENAMELLED (CD011) M Rodd V Tardy start and ridden along to race in midfield or worse 2 wide through to straight. Under pressure 400 M out but only able to run on evenly to the line.
11 11 PRO JOY (CD160) F Coetzee -- Jumped fairly and niggled along to race in a forward position on rail through to straight. Unable to quicken when asked 400 M out and steadily faded inside final 250 M.
12 3 SYLLABUS (CD388) Y T Cheng B Jumped awkwardly and raced in a rearward position on rail. Lost its position near the 800 M when tight for room. Failed to make any impression in the straight.
13 5 ONE EYE JACK (CD393) G Mosse -- Slowly away and soon recovered to race in midfield on rail through to straight. Found nothing when asked 350 M out and dropped out steadily inside final 300 M.
14 1 JOIN VICTORY (CD026) S Dye -- Began fairly from wide draw and niggled along to race in midfield or better 4 wide without cover. Commenced to give ground shortly after the 600 M and tailed out in straight.
