2 8 RIVER ESPERANTO (CE090) E Saint-Martin CP-/B2/TT Broke with them, restrained from wide alley to tail of field, raced in 2nd last position 2 wide 8Ls from front to 500 M, made strong run 5 wide on turn and made up good ground.
3 1 FLAMING LAMBORGINI (CE146) H W Lai TT Jumped fairly, caught 3 wide from awkward alley, raced 3 wide with cover 6Ls from lead thereafter made run 6 wide on turn and came with strong run to figure in finish.
4 12 EQUATOR KID (CC134) D Whyte -- Jumped with them, restrained to take trail, raced 3rd last 2 wide 6Ls from lead, had soft run in transit, got great run through field and hit lead at 300 M but couldn't hold off first 3.
5 10 MIGHTY HUGO (CB413) C Munce -- Broke well, pushed forward to take up prominent position raced in 4th 1 out 1 back 3Ls off lead, had good run there- after, not a lot of room when making run early in straight and ran usual honest race.
6 11 CLASSIC DELIGHT (CD372) S Dye TT Slow to begin, restrained to 3rd last on rails 8Ls from lead, made run 2 wide on turn, no racing room for first half of straight and made good ground when clear.
7 7 RED PEPPER (CA196) A Delpech -- Fairly away from widest draw, dropped back to last 10Ls from lead, had field in front on turn, held up early in straight but stuck to task well and made steady ground.
8 14 SHANGHAI LAD (CE213) C Brown -- Broke well, settled 3 back on fence 5Ls from lead, midfield throughout with easy run, followed rails in straight and had no clear running until 200 M but only plugged on when clear.
9 9 PHANTOM THIEF (CG019) F Coetzee TT Jumped well, took up prominent position behind leader, had dream run in mid section, raced on bit most of trip, run presented at 300 M but lacked dash to finish race off. (See racing incidents.)
10 5 DR WELL (CD165) G Schofield -- Away fairly, trapped 3 wide and without cover most of the way about 5Ls from lead, came 4 to 5 wide on turn, raced very one-paced when asked for final effort.
11 6 NORTHERNER (CD293) P H Lo -- Awkward to begin and lost ground, proved difficult to settle in early and middle section, raced 2 wide in 6th 4Ls off front-runners, eased 3 wide from 500 M and urged along 4 wide on turn but lacked any turn of foot.
12 4 ABLE KNIGHT (CE079) M Rodd TT1 Average to begin, ridden up to go forward and take up spot outside the leader (pace good early), raced at leaders girth thereafter, applied pressure on turn but compounded in straight.
13 3 SAVUTE (CE326) G Mosse -- Began with them, trapped 3 wide without cover 2Ls off lead, covered ground throughout, moved up to tackle leaders at 500 M.
14 2 VERY FIT (CE071) B Prebble TT Jumped fairly, ridden hard to take up lead (good early pace), dictated terms in mid-section, pressured from 500 M, led into straight but weakened badly final 200 M.
