12 FIRST AMONG EQUALS (CC327) S Dye B Average to break, showed no speed as usual to settle at rear of field 8Ls off pace, lobbed along a tail to turn, still had field to beat, hooked to extreme outside, finished over the top of them last 200 M to score big win.
4 SUPREME CLASS (CG089) C K Tong CP/TT Began a shade slower than usual, soon mustered speed to take up running, dictated terms at an even clip, held 1L advantage on turning, turned up a notch and kicked strongly last 200 M, had race won everywhere but line.
11 HAWKES BAY (CG064) B Prebble V Fastest into stride, crossed easily to race at leaders girth, had reasonable run with even speed, moved up to challenge into straight, kept giving for most of straight but just couldn't match first two last bit.
2 GOOD PROFIT (CD389) G Mosse -- Fair to break, drifted back to assume usual role near rear, raced 3 wide with cover 6 to 7Ls away, steadily made ground to be 4Ls away on turn, chased gamely in straight and made good ground to make frame.
10 BEING FAMOUS (CD018) Y T Cheng B Began with rest, urged along to maintain 3 back on rails, had soft run in mid-section, travelled well turning in, in traffic but not doing enough to threaten, kept same pace to line.
3 ORIENTAL MAGIC (CE133) O Doleuze B/TT Jumped with line, ridden up to hold prominent position behind leader, not asked in mid-section, tracked well to turn, in behind them for most of straight and finally clear at 200 M but only finished at same pace.
7 GOOD NATURE (CE153) D Whyte -- Reasonable beginning, lacked early speed and settled just off midfield, raced on rails 4 to 5Ls away, still in traffic on turning, steadily made ground but ran out of room at 200 M and was not properly tested.
8 RICE FIELD (CE134) H W Lai TT Began nicely, faded back to midfield when unable to cross, forced to race 3 wide without cover 3Ls away, steadily made ground and came with 4 wide run on turn. Threatened until 200 M when hard run took toll.
5 ALPHA MAIL (CG286) F Coetzee -- Slow to begin, pushed along to hold midfield position, raced 2 wide 6Ls off pace, pushed along to make 3 wide run turning in, came to outside in straight and closed race off nicely. Fair debut.
9 LIGHT OF JOY (CG323) E Saint-Martin -- Began with rest, showed enough speed to settle in forward role, slotted in to 1 out 1 back spot with run of race, came 3 wide into straight, stuck to task well but fitness gave out close to home.
13 THISTLE KING (CE231) W M Lai -- Broke nicely, couldn't show enough dash to get close to lead, finished up in midfield 2 wide 3 to 4Ls away, had good to turn, hard ridden and responded making good ground but just lacked dash to be a factor.
6 FIRM OFFER (CE008) A Delpech SR Away with field, soon restrained to race in rearward division on rails, raced 6Ls away using little to turn, followed paint into straight and closed off nicely before severe check at 100 M mark.
14 DASHING THUNDER (CD080) C W Wong B Began fairly, soon drifted back from wide alley, raced near tail 2 wide 6 to 7Ls away, tracked well on bend, came with run between horses in straight, making late ground before severely checked at 100 M.
