3 EVER BRIGHT (CG223) D Nikolic -- Away fairly, slotted into a 2 wide role behind midfield 5 to 6Ls back, unsuited by tempo, tracked well coming 3 wide on bend, into clear at 350 M and wound up strongly charging hard to clinch victory late.
12 CRUSADER OF GOLD (CE188) K L Chui B Reasonable getaway, took a position 1 out 1 back 2 to 3Ls off leader, suited by speed and had an easy time to bend, tracked well into straight, cut back to inside and charged late to go down narrowly.
4 EYE WITNESS (CG027) F Coetzee XB/TT Began nicely, held position at leaders girth, advantaged by moderate pace, 1L away on bend, challenged and took over at 350 M, kicked hard and just lost out last 50 M in 3 way go.
5 MASTERY (CC176) C K Tong TT Average break as usual, settled towards rear on rails, raced 6Ls from them and unsuited by slow tempo, came two wide on bend, switched out in straight, into clear last 200 M and finished hard to make frame.
10 LE ROSSIGNOL (CG196) A Delpech CP Fastest out, assumed expected role in front, set a leisurely tempo, held a narrow break on bend, turned it into a sprint home turning in and kept giving to be right there until 100 M when overhauled late.
8 WIN PRACTITIONER (CG180) S Dye B Lacked speed from outset, settled towards tail racing 2 wide 7Ls back, not helped by slow speed, still last on bend, made up plenty of ground last 300 M to be closest on line. Lost no admirers.
2 GOLD FIELD (CC096) G Mosse B No dash from gates, shared rear 7Ls back on rails, not suited by average pace, still well back on bend, kept to inside and came between horses last 200 M, did best work late to be nearest on line.
1 FANTUZZI (CG187) H W Lai XB Bumped on jumping, lacked dash as usual, raced 3 wide 6Ls back with trail, improved 4 wide on circle, 4Ls down on turning, briefly threatened at 300 M but set too great a task and unable to finish off when they dashed home.
6 MAN IN THE MIRROR (CH058) D Whyte -- Reasonably away, kept on and assumed spot 3 wide 2 to 3Ls off leaders, did work without cover but helped by average tempo, right there 1L down turning but run ended at 200 M and just held ground to line.
11 GRAND NOBLE (CG148) C W Wong BO Standard jump, held a midfield position on rails 4Ls back, had easy time on bend and saved ground on turning in, in traffic but showed little when clear last 200 M.
9 MILLENNIUM SPIRIT (BV221) B Prebble -- Average break, posted wide and elected to hold a midfield spot with slow speed, covered ground throughout coming 4 wide on bend, still there to 200 M but weakened tamely. Faded out thereafter.
7 CELEBRATION (CB029) Y T Cheng B Bumped on jumping, soon regathered to take a prime spot behind leader, had run of race to bend, lacked a fight when they sprinted and dropped right out late. Disappointing.
