8 YOUNG HERO (CH071) D Whyte XB Away in line, didn't have early pace but settled closer 4Ls back on rails, had an easy time in mid-section aided by even tempo, came 2 wide at 600 M, switched 4 wide turning, ascended at 150 M to claim them and score with ease.
5 CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN (CG310) C W Wong TT Fastest into stride, crossed them with ease, kept speed even in front 1L clear, made them chase on circle, held a 1L advantage turning, kicked hard in straight and only reeled in last 100 M by winner.
12 SYDNEY EXPRESS (CG052) B Prebble B Away well but allowed to relax in midfield, raced 6Ls back in running line, tracked nicely behind eventual winner on bend, couldn't match first two but closed race off soundly down centre.
7 TIME SUPREME (CE012) Y T Cheng PC-/B2 Flat footed at start and lost considerable ground, raced at rear on fence 8Ls from them, helped by genuine tempo, switched 2 wide but gave a huge start on bend, made many lengths down outside from an impossible spot.
3 NORTHERNER (CD293) D Nikolic XB Moderate getaway, raced in a rearward position as expected, 6Ls back on rails at midpoint but helped by tempo, still well back on turning, switched 2 wide and closed evenly to be nearest on line.
1 LIBERAL'S CHOICE (CC345) F Coetzee -- Amongst first few to begin, took a sit behind leader, did share of work behind genuine speed, close enough on bend, run opened but could only produce a one pace rally to hold ground in run to line.
2 LHOJONG (CG281) S K Sit B/SR Away well, hard ridden in the early stages to hold a forward role, raced in coveted 1 out 1 back spot 3Ls away, aided by tempo, had chance on turning but didn't have required turn of foot, steadied at 100 M but never likely.
9 DIAMOND ERA (CE040) G Mosse SR/TT Even getaway but soon in latter half of field, raced 7Ls away in running line, advantaged by the speed, switched between horses turning in, closed at same speed making little impression in straight.
4 DASH AHEAD (CD199) H W Lai SR Little speed from the outset, assumed usual rearward role 7Ls back on rails, still well back approaching bend, lacked a finish but did make up a little late ground between horses last 200 M.
11 EQUATOR KID (CC134) M W Leung -- Improved jump out, settled more prominently and challenged early, did share of work outside leader at a genuine clip, kept there and was 1L down on turning, condition gave out at 200 M and dropped off after a hard run.
10 SUPER WONGCHOY (CB318) C K Tong -- Well enough to begin, held a spot in front of midfield, travelled nicely 4Ls off speed on rails, run opened on turning but lacked a turn of foot and battled to line last 200 M.
6 SHABU SHABU (CB290) E Saint-Martin -- No speed as usual, soon settled at tail, raced 2 wide 8Ls or more back, switched by tempo, still had field to beat on bend, didn't finish off as normally would and just plodded to line.
