8 O'REILLY MAGIC (CJ134) Z Purton TT Best away, eased back into 'one-out-one-back' slot in 4th from 1000 M to 600 M, pressed on 3-wide turning in, led 150 M out, ridden out strongly.
3 ABLE DRAGON (CJ308) K C Leung B1 3-back the fence about 4Ls off pace at 1000 M, closer turning for home, dangerous when 1L down in 3rd at 200 M, couldn't quite follow through.
11 WONG'S FAVOURITE (CG131) P H Lo B/TT Enjoyed a soft trail on fence in 3rd or 4th about 2Ls behind lead until final turn, all out to just snare a place.
1 DASHING THUNDER (CD080) W M Lai B2 4-back on rails in 7th at 1200 M, same position and 4Ls back swinging for home, kept on pretty well along the inner, just missed a place.
6 WIND KNIGHT (CJ326) C K Tong SR 2-wide in 8th or so some 6Ls back at 1100 M, with about 5Ls to make up at 400 M, kept on okay but never likely to trouble principals.
5 SUPREME GOLD (CH205) M Chadwick B2/TT Led by 1L at the 1200 M, joined for the lead from 600 M to home turn, 1L clear at 300 M with every chance, swamped inside final furlong.
2 SOMETHING SPECIAL (CJ014) J Lloyd CP Taken back from widest gate, 7Ls behind at halfway, 6Ls adrift on straightening, made some moderate late ground, never nearer.
4 HOLIDAY SUN (CJ328) A Gryder CP Slowest away, on the rails and 7Ls back in 10th at 1200 M, marginally closer turning in, recovered some late ground without really threatening.
9 MARBLE RED (CK160) W C Marwing -- Never travelling very well, 5Ls back in 6th at halfway with cover, closer turning for home but pressured, flat in the finish. (Questioned for performance.)
10 ROYAL PORTRAIT (CJ092) Y T Cheng -- No early pace and caught 3-wide no cover from the top of the back straight in a worse-than-midfield position, never likely in the home straight.
12 QUALITY-QUALITY (CE250) W Pike B Eased back, 8Ls last in middle stages, tried to loop field from the 500 M, widest and 5Ls adrift off last bend, could not land a blow.
7 GOLDEN BALL (CH128) D Beadman B2 Caught wide on first bend, pressed on to be 1L back in 2nd at 1100 M, disputed lead out 2-wide at 600 M, fizzled out from top of home straight.
